Floods of Wrath & Righteousness

*Why did God destroy all living things?*

    • Man was wicked, evil thoughts, evil hearts, violent, corrupt
    • This evil, this sin grieved God
    • Hidden camera analogy-dont touch the cookie
    • God mind
    • This is God’s character, He punishes, He does violence, He pours out His wrath on sinners
    • Wrath-the flaming hotness of God’s punitive anger
  • Nahum 1:1-6
  • Romans 2:5-8
    • Hebrews 10:26-31
    • How could God do this?
      • Ezekiel 33:11 As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?
  • 2 Peter 3:1-10
  • Talk about the wrath that our generation has coming if we don’t repent and turn
  • Lets take sin seriously

**Why did Noah find favor in God’s eyes?**

  • Vs 8-9, 18, 7:1
    • Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
    • Talk about righteousness by faith
  • Ephesians 2:1-10 (1-3 for the heroes)
  • Romans 5:1-2
  • Noah became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith, we are heirs of righteousness, we can walk with God, we can be looked at as blameless in our generation if we place our faith in Jesus Christ!
  • Lets keep our focus on Jesus, our only righteousness, our only favor

***Where is the gospel in this account?***

  • Man was evil, corrupt and sinful
  • God poured out His wrath
  • Noah was saved and looked at as righteous because of His faith
  • Iow, sin—-wrath—-salvation by faith

  • We were evil, corrupt and sinful
  • God poured out His wrath, not on us who deserved it, but on His son who was righteous
  • We are saved and looked at as righteous because of our faith in Jesus
  • Iow, sin—-wrath—-salvation by faith

2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Hebrews 11:7

Let us with reverential fear, share the message, especially to those of our household.  To the unsaved, Our God is a consuming fire, become righteous by placing your faith in Him.

Take sin seriously, take grace seriously
