Rest and unbelief. Part 1

*1 We must check our heart

Verses 7-12

**2 We are responsible for and depend on one another to encourage our faith

12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

***3 The destructive power of sin can lead to unbelief

12Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end

  1. Let us examine ourselves, verse 12, take care, brothers, lest there be in you an evil unbelieving heart
  2. Repent, because there is some degree of unbelief there either now or in the past
  3. Begin practicing the discipline of exhorting one another daily
    1. Ask the the question, Hey bro, hey sis, where you at with the Lord right now
    2. Grandad, still holding on
  4. Repent, confess, and stop any sin in your life.  This is “that sin” or that “reoccuring sin” that, “God is going to have to just forgive me because I’m not giving this up sin”
  5. Strengthen your own confidence in the Lord by being active in His word
