Gospel Power

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

What is the Gospel?

16 Salvation
Darkness
Slaves to sin
On the road to eternal destruction
Who, what, when where, how would I be delivered from this death?

16 Gospel: power of God for salvation
Ephesians 2:1-10 made us alive with christ
17 Righteousness of God
God is so righteous that He took vengeance on His only begotten son
Isaiah 53:5-6 & 10
God is so good and Jesus’ blood so pure that it covers us with that same righteousness of God

How do we get this salvation? believe!

Is the Gospel a one and done?

Do you still need salvation? Or did you only need it 5, 10 15, 20, 30, 40 years ago?

17 revealed from faith for faith…
We continue to need the power of the gospel and the righteousness of God for salvation! The righteous shall live by faith!
When you are struggling with sin, when you need rescue, run to the gospel!

Why would we be ashamed of it?

Paul wants to get to Rome
The gospel has cost him everything, but he still wants to go preach it
Describe what it cost him
But is is all worth it for him, he is not ashamed, but enthusiastic
Are we ashamed of the Gospel?
1 corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
